About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Specialist to join our team at Eclipse Automation. As an important member of our Controls Engineering department, you will play a critical role in designing and developing electrical systems for our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop common electrical designs as per customer and project requirements based on standard methods
  • Provide electrical assistance during various stages of integration
  • Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers
  • Perform engineering calculations such as short-circuit current rating or panel heat loss/cooling
  • Collaborate with other members of the Controls Engineering department and other groups to continuously improve design methods, aiming for enhanced safety, functionality, and reduced costs
  • Work closely with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide complete, functional automation systems
  • Accurately document each project and advise customers on solving technical problems
  • The position requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel as required in varying timelines
Requirements
  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent, specializing in electrical engineering
  • Experience with EPLAN is necessary
  • At least 5 years of automation experience
  • Familiarity with various electrical machinery standards such as NFPA 70/79, CSA Z22.1 would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as EN ISO 13849 or EN 62061 would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • A self-starter with ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Experience in an automation environment will be considered an asset
