About the RoleThis is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on a variety of projects across multiple industries. As an Electrical Control Systems Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices used at ATS.
You will work closely with mechanical designers, customers, and project managers to ensure that all designs meet the required safety and functionality standards. Your expertise in electrical control systems design will enable you to formulate and produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions.
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhance safety, and reduce costs.
Responsibilities- Design and develop complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices used at ATS.
- Work with mechanical designers, customers, and project managers to ensure that all designs meet the required safety and functionality standards.
- Formulate and produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions.
- Collaborate with other members of the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhance safety, and reduce costs.
- Specify all electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.
- Integrate third-party equipment and electronic component entry into electrical design packages.
- Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
- Three years' experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field.
- A working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD.
