About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child and Youth Development Specialist to join our team at the Developmental Disabilities Association. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of children and youth with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
  • Encouraging Creativity: Encourage children to express their creativity through various forms of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Environment and Safety: Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
Requirements
  • Certifications and Training: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • Work Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
  • Physical Demands: Bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Schedule: 21 hours per week.
