We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child and Youth Development Specialist to join our team at the Developmental Disabilities Association. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the growth and development of children in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Program Development: Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Leadership and Guidance: Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
- Creativity and Expression: Encourage children to express their creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- Environment and Safety: Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
- Certifications and Training: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
- Work Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience working with children, preferably with special needs students.
- Security and Safety: Criminal record check.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling.
- Financial Benefits: As per collective agreement.
- Work Schedule: 21 hours per week.
- Language of Work: English.
