Position Overview:
As a Child & Youth Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing individualized and group assistance to children and adolescents aged 7-15 who may face mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. Your work will involve collaborating with the Program Coordinator to establish goals, action plans, and strategies tailored to the needs of clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver one-on-one and group support to children and youth, fostering their development and well-being.
  • Engage clients through community-based recreational activities, utilizing coaching and supportive counseling techniques.
  • Assist clients in building essential life skills, promoting age-appropriate independence, self-esteem, and social responsibility.
  • Respond to referrals from child protection services, ensuring the safety and welfare of clients.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of one year of post-secondary education in child/youth care or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with children and youth facing mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
Essential Skills:
  • Proven ability to engage with hard-to-reach children and youth, along with their families.
  • Capability to identify health and safety concerns affecting children and youth.
  • Understanding of child development, transitional issues, and family dynamics.
  • Competence in maintaining confidentiality and relevant documentation.
Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
  • Mandatory Emergency First Aid certification.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status.
