Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Child and Youth Care Specialist to provide one-to-one and group support for children and youth aged 7-15 who may experience mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator to formulate goals, action plans, and strategies with clients and their caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide community-based recreational activities to support clients in developing life skills, age-appropriate independence, self-confidence, and social responsibility.
  • Use coaching, modeling, and supportive counseling techniques to help clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Work with clients and their caregivers to identify and address health and safety issues.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client progress and outcomes.
Requirements
  • One year of post-secondary education in child/youth care or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with children and youth with mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hard-to-reach children, youth, and their families.
  • Ability to identify health and safety issues for children and youth.
  • Knowledge of child development, transitional themes, and family dynamics.
  • Ability to maintain a client's safety in the community.
  • Competency in maintaining confidential relevant documentation.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
  • Emergency First Aid certification.
  • Driver's License.
