About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child and Youth Worker to join our team at the Developmental Disabilities Association. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Collaborate with our team to design and implement child-care programs that promote the overall well-being of children, including their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Lead activities and provide guidance to children, including telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking them on outings to local points of interest.
  • Encouraging Creativity: Foster creativity in children through various mediums, such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Environment and Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, including planning and implementing measures to protect their health, security, and well-being.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and community service providers to ensure seamless support for children.
Requirements
  • Certifications and Training: Possess certifications in Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR, as well as an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
  • Work Experience: Have experience working with children with special needs, including those with intellectual disabilities.
  • Security and Safety: Undergo a criminal record check.
  • Physical Capabilities: Be able to perform tasks that require bending, crouching, and kneeling.
Work Environment

This is a permanent, part-time position with 21 hours of work per week. The work language is English.
