About the Role:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to join the Office of the Dean in the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management. As a key member of the Dean's team, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and tracking the strategic implementation of Faculty-wide initiatives and cross-organizational special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the Dean and Vice-Deans in the execution of complex initiatives, consulting with individuals and groups to address specific topics and provide advice and feedback.
  • Assess and resolve issues, or direct/re-direct as appropriate, prior to issues being directed to the Dean.
  • Provide senior-level support and advice by helping to implement the strategic priorities and directions set by the Dean and Vice-Deans.
  • Manage and oversee selected functions that are cross-cutting and require significant coordination across the School, including the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office and the Manager, Academic Administrative Services.
  • Exercise a high degree of sensitivity, responsiveness, and confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree (Master's or PhD) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years of senior-level management support experience in the education, government, or private sector working in complex organizations.
  • Project management experience and expertise required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of universities from a number of diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with senior administrators, responding to and handling matters of a complex, confidential, and sensitive nature.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing or managing EDI initiatives and in navigating complaints and sensitive issues relevant to the Dean's Office.
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office; database management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Supervisory experience and experience in problem identification and resolution in non-supervisory capacity.

  • Political acumen and strong judgment skills.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills, strong organizational, planning, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of legislation and best administrative practices.
