About the Role

Octopus Deploy is seeking a highly skilled Director, Business Development to join our team. As a key member of our revenue leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Associate Account Executives (AAEs) to create qualified opportunities for our sales team.

This is a remote position that requires you to be located in the United States or Canada. You will work closely with the Marketing team to provide feedback on MQLs and campaigns, and collaborate with Operations and other members of the revenue leadership team to improve opportunity management, governance, and qualification processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train other members of the AAE Team to identify, contact, and create qualified opportunities.
  • Ensure team members improve performance and abilities over time by providing coaching and feedback in recurring weekly 1:1s.
  • Plan for hiring and onboarding new AAEs.
  • Build out the AAE function and take on a player/coach role.
  • Help build the careers of AAEs so they can become Account Executives or Account Managers in the future.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to provide feedback on MQLs and campaigns.
  • Work closely with Operations and other members of the revenue leadership team to improve opportunity management, governance, and qualification processes.
  • Accurately forecasts weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics and attainment.
About You
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Bilingual preferred.
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or customer service for a technical product (DevOps preferred).
  • Must have sold to developers in the past.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in the DevOps space.
  • Have been an AE or SDR/BDR in the past.
  • Experience with CRM software (Salesforce preferred).
  • Experience in sales operations and/or marketing automation software preferred.
  • Understanding of B2B software and the developer product space is preferred.
  • Passionate about technology and learning more about Octopus Deploy and DevOps.
