Indigenous Outreach and Community Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Indigenous Outreach and Community Engagement Specialist to join our team at the University of Saskatchewan. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with local Indigenous communities, promoting cultural awareness and understanding, and fostering partnerships that support student success and community development.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse group of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and community members. As an Indigenous Outreach and Community Engagement Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the university's approach to Indigenous education and reconciliation.
About the Role:
- Build and maintain relationships with local Indigenous communities, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.
- Promote cultural awareness and understanding through workshops, events, and other initiatives.
- Foster partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to support student success and community development.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase Indigenous student enrollment and retention rates.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and deliver culturally responsive curriculum and programming.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Indigenous studies, education, social work).
- 2+ years of experience working in Indigenous outreach and community engagement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
