Company Overview:
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Indigenous Research Lead to join our team. As a leading organization in the development of Métis policies, laws, and programs, we are committed to empowering our community through research and knowledge.
Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 per year
Job Description:
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong background in research management to oversee the development and implementation of research projects that align with the MMF's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing research teams, developing project timelines, identifying research participants, conducting interviews, gathering data, and analyzing findings.
In this role, you will facilitate partnerships with government agencies, academic institutions, and other organizations to support and enhance research efforts. You will also provide guidance and support to research staff and consultants, ensuring high-quality research standards and practices are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement research projects that align with the MMF's strategic objectives
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of research projects, including project timelines, research participants, data collection, and analysis
- Facilitate partnerships with government agencies, academic institutions, and other organizations
- Provide guidance and support to research staff and consultants
- Oversee the development and maintenance of databases, research files, and other documentation related to the Sixties Scoop and Residential Schools
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., indigenous studies, social work, history, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in research management, preferably in a government, academic, or non-profit setting
- Experience in developing and implementing research projects, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Ability to manage and lead a team of researchers and consultants
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the Sixties Scoop and Residential Schools, and their ongoing impacts on Indigenous communities
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs, and services is an asset
