Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our Indigenous Client Services group. The successful candidate will lead client engagements and provide expert tax advice to Indigenous clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their skills and make a meaningful impact on the lives of Indigenous people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead client engagements and provide expert tax advice to Indigenous clients;
  • Work closely with other team members to deliver tax planning services;
  • Utilize knowledge of the Indian Act and associated tax implications to advise clients;
  • Plan and organize teams to prepare tax returns and conduct tax research;
  • Advise clients on tax minimization strategies and compliance issues;
  • Review work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness;
  • Become part of the tax engagement team servicing the needs of clients;
  • Provide ongoing support and mentoring for professional development of staff.
Requirements
  • Professional accounting designation;
  • A minimum of 5 years specializing in tax in public accounting (asset);
  • Enrollment in or completion of the CPA In Depth Tax program (asset);
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Culture, Governance, Treaties and Rights, Reconciliation and Indigenous History in Canada;
  • Experience working directly with Indigenous communities, governments and associations;
  • Knowledge of the Indian Act and associated tax implications;
  • Knowledge of Section 149 tax exemptions of the Income Tax Act;
  • Knowledge of structuring Indigenous businesses to preserve tax exemptions;
  • Excellent people management skills;
  • Highly motivated individual with a desire for growth;
  • Excellent client service skills with the ability to understand client business;
  • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professionalism in performance of duties.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be $120,000-$150,000 per annum, depending on experience. KPMG offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and vision coverage, as well as access to retirement savings plans.
