Job Description
As a Department Manager at H&M Group, you will play a vital role in driving sales and profitability within your assigned department. This dynamic role requires a strong leader who can motivate and develop a high-performing team to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and distribute work among team members, setting priorities and ensuring effective task completion.
- Manage employee relations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning, in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities, including approving time-off requests, pay changes, corrective actions, and making employment decisions.
- Assist the Store Manager in maintaining a positive work environment, ensuring employee relations are handled in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Commerciality
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to maximize sales through joint operational and commercial focus, driving profitability within the department.
- Ensure team members have thorough knowledge of product, campaigns, promotions, display guidelines, and merchandise information.
- Maintain high visual standards, presenting garments according to H&M's expectations.
- Plan and coordinate with the visual team on campaigns, promotions, and sales activities within the department.
- Operations
- Schedule team members effectively, adjusting hours as necessary to meet store and sales goals.
- Work with sales and cost plans, budgets, and other tools to make informed business decisions, ensuring maximum profitability.
- Responsible for knowledge and completion of cash office operational functions.
- Follow and execute safety and security routines to prevent loss and ensure employee and customer safety.
- May be assigned overall store responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Customer Service
- Maintain high-quality H&M direct and indirect customer service, providing the best shopping experience for each customer.
- Financial Accountability
- Assist the Store Manager in establishing and overseeing sales and cost plans, budgets, and variable costs for the department.
- Accurately record sales and worked hour figures.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent, with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of retail management experience, including direct supervisory experience, or comparable management role experience.
- Ability to lift in excess of 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stretch, engage in repetitive motions, push, pull, and carry items for a short distance.
- Ability to climb a ladder and use a stepstool.

- Basic computer skills, such as browser navigation, software interaction, and data entry.
- Open availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Minimal travel required as necessary.
