Job Summary

The Senior Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sewing floor, ensuring that production targets are met and that the team is performing at a high level. This role requires strong leadership and coordination skills, as well as the ability to analyze production schedules and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and plan the activities of the sewing floor, ensuring that production targets are met and that the team is performing at a high level.
  • Review production schedules daily and plan work for all lines, including bundling, marking, and down filling.
  • Work with industry engineering technicians to calculate manpower requirements and balance lines for optimum output.
  • Identify training requirements for each section/line and coordinate with the training supervisor.
  • Review low performance and work with team members to create action plans for improvements.
  • Provide a safe working environment within the department and manufacturing floor.
  • Request time studies to be done on a timely basis.
  • Review production boards to ensure accurate information is displayed.
  • Review reports and make decisions promptly.
  • Review equipment with maintenance staff to ensure it is in working condition and being used for the right operation.
  • Continuously find ways to improve process flow to maximize output.
  • Communicate and update direct reports on business updates, union grievances, and management decisions.
Requirements
  • Over 10 years of experience in apparel manufacturing.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in the apparel industry.
  • Ability to sew and follow manual instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Familiarity with sewing operations and industrial-type machines.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Able to prioritize work and delegate tasks.
  • Update management periodically with solutions and action plans.
  • Familiarity with computers and business software, such as MS Office and Excel.
