The Senior Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sewing floor, ensuring that production targets are met and that the team is performing at a high level. This role requires strong leadership and coordination skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and plan the activities of the sewing floor, ensuring that production targets are met and that the team is performing at a high level.
- Review the production schedule daily and plan work for all lines, including bundling, marking, and down filling.
- Work with industry engineering technicians to calculate manpower requirements and balance lines for optimum output.
- Identify training requirements for each section/line and coordinate with the training supervisor.
- Review low performance and work with team members to create action plans for improvements.
- Provide a safe working environment within the department and manufacturing floor.
- Request time studies to be done on a timely basis.
- Review production boards to ensure accurate information is displayed.
- Review reports and make decisions promptly.
- Review equipment with maintenance staff to ensure it is in working condition and being used for the right operation.
- Continuously find ways to improve process flow to maximize output.
- Communicate and update direct reports on business updates, union grievances, and management decisions.
- Over 10 years of experience in apparel manufacturing.
- 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in the apparel industry.
- Ability to sew and follow manual instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people.
- Familiarity with sewing operations and industrial-type machines.
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Able to prioritize work and delegate tasks.
- Update management periodically with solutions and action plans.
- Familiarity with computers and business software, such as MS Office and Excel.
