Job Title: Specialist, Contracts - Bombardier Defense

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Specialist to join our team at Bombardier Defense. As a Contract Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements related to the sale of private jets for special missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and draft multi-million dollar cross-border agreements with customers, ensuring that Bombardier's interests are protected while meeting customer needs.
  • Draft and negotiate a range of agreements, including aircraft purchase agreements, data license agreements, engineering services agreements, and aircraft modification agreements.
  • Provide ongoing commercial and legal support to internal and external customers to ensure successful aircraft delivery objectives.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks to protect aircraft delivery schedules, working closely with internal stakeholders to develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Engage with management to raise unresolved contractual risks in a timely manner.
  • Initiate correspondence with customers, including invoices, in accordance with purchase agreements and ensure follow-up as necessary.
  • Contribute to process improvement and governance activities related to the functions of the department.
  • Travel internationally as required to support business objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong business acumen combined with risk mitigation abilities.
  • University degree in law or business, with an MBA considered an asset.
  • At least 10-15 years' experience working in a law firm or large corporation.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in negotiating commercial transactions and drafting commercial agreements.
  • Leadership and autonomy to work independently and make decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills to effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders.
  • Strong drafting skills in English, with bilingualism in French and English preferred.
  • Ability to work flexibly with extended and/or irregular working hours as required.
  • Travel on short notice as required to support business objectives.
  • Knowledge of the aviation and/or defense industry and/or U.S. government Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARs) an asset.
