Spiritual Care Chaplain

The Chaplain reports to the Health Services Manager and provides Pastoral Care to the patients, families, and staff of the organization. Key responsibilities include:
Visiting patients who are admitted to the hospital or care facility and assessing their emotional and spiritual care needs.
Prioritizing patient visits and making regular visits to those who need emotional and/or spiritual support.
Responding to emergencies and referrals made by nurses, physicians, or other healthcare workers.
Advocating for patients and providing spiritual and emotional support through their dying process.
Making provision for the administration of the sacraments and/or other religious ceremonies as requested by patients and families.
Providing emotional and spiritual support to families and staff, as well as being present with family members during the dying process.
Developing working relationships with local clergy and serving as a liaison between clergy and patients, families, and staff.
Attending multi-disciplinary rounds, advisory committee meetings, and case conferences, as well as participating in site management meetings and local ministerial meetings.
We are seeking a qualified candidate with the following qualifications and experience:
A minimum of one Basic Unit in Clinical Pastoral Education as endorsed by the Canadian Association of Pastoral Practice and Education, with additional Units preferred.
Affiliation and endorsement by a recognized faith group.
Demonstrated leadership ability, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
Competencies in other languages, with French being an asset.
This is a Permanent Part-Time (20%) position, with 15.00 hours bi-weekly. Travel is required, and the successful candidate must have access to a reliable vehicle.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $26.01 - $35.52. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
