About the Opportunity

Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) is seeking three full-time Geriatricians to be Zone Leaders in frailty and work in a collaborative, team-based environment that includes nursing services and administrative support. Located in the historic town of Sydney, CBRH has acute care beds, 36 emergency beds, 23 intermediate and critical care beds, 40 maternal child beds, 52 mental health and addiction beds, and nine palliative care beds. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and community-based programs. CBRH opened its door to patients in . Now, it is the second largest acute care facility in Nova Scotia that serves more than , patients a year. It is part of a four-hospital complex that also includes Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated, and Northside General Hospitals.

Responsibilities
  • You will be a zone leader for frailty care
  • Working in a collaborative frailty team in the emergency department and acute care with nurse practitioners, OTs, pharmacists, physios, and social workers
  • Provide frailty-informed, ambitious, and optimistic urgent care in the first 72 hours of a patient’s illness.
  • Be part of Nova Scotia Health’s Division of Geriatric Medicine and adjunct appointment and research opportunities with Dalhousie University’s Division of Geriatric Medicine.
  • Focus on at-risk, under-served populations, notably including older adults who live with frailty, and anyone who is indigenous, and those who live with addictions.

Qualifications
  • all family physician must have membership with the (CFPC)
  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the (RCPSC)
  • membership with the (CMPA)
