Job Description

Mott MacDonald is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead the development, support, and execution of communication systems engineering and integration activities for rail and transit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead the communication systems elements of project delivery within Mott MacDonald Canada, including interfacing with infrastructure and related systems design teams, managing team resources, and budget.
  • Design Review and Compliance: Review communication system designs, specifications, installation, and testing plans for compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Technical Advisory: Provide technical advisory and input to clients in the development of system requirements and contract documents for communication system aspects of rail projects.
  • Bid Development: Lead the communication systems design elements of project bids, including oversight of conceptual design and budget development.
  • Process Development: Contribute to the development, adoption, and implementation of Systems Engineering processes and practices in Mott MacDonald's North American Rail Systems Practice.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to project teams at all stages of the Project life cycle.
  • Lessons Learned: Apply lessons learned and advise on necessary corrective actions for ongoing projects.
  • Partner Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key delivery partners and service providers for communication systems equipment and solutions.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with end clients as and when necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science (preferably Electrical/Computer/IT or Systems Engineering).
  • Experience: Minimum years' design, specification, installation, or maintenance of communication systems with significant experience in passenger rail and transit projects.
  • Skills: Experience with management and coordination of multiple aspects of communications systems design in the delivery of rail or complex infrastructure projects, including the following subsystems:
    • CCTV/Video Management Systems
    • Intrusion/Access Control
    • Telephony/Intercoms
    • Radio/DAS/Wi-Fi
    • Backbone Fibre Optic Infrastructure
    • Communication Networks
    • SCADA
    • Wayside safety and security systems
    • INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification is desirable.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
