About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Engineer to join our Transportation Systems team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of communication systems for rail transit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement advanced communication design concepts and techniques for rail transit projects
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams on communication system design and implementation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure communication system requirements are met
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports related to communication system design and implementation
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and technologies to ensure WSP Canada remains at the forefront of communication system design and implementation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a related engineering discipline from an accredited university
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta (P. Eng.) or an equivalent with the ability to get a P.Eng. license in Alberta
  • Senior-level communications design and/or operations experience in the public transit industry or comparable industries
  • Demonstrable experience in at least two of the following areas: data network design, radio systems design, end-to-end conceptual technical designs, outside plant infrastructure design, and CCTV/PA/VMS/Telephone design
  • Knowledge of rail and public transit operations is an asset
  • Familiarity with CBTC-based signalling systems, block signalling control systems, and driverless train control would be a strong asset
  • Critical attention to specification details and project deadlines
  • RCDD certification would be an asset
  • CISSP certification with experience in OT environments would be an asset
