Job Summary

Seabird Island Band is seeking a highly skilled Records Management Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Finance and Administration department, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing records and information management daily support in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of corporate information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership: Provide overall supervision to the Records program, including supervision of work planning, scheduling, and assessment of staffing needs. Promote shared team goals and collaboration among members.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports and recommendations for the Manager and stakeholders. Make presentations and provide advice/guidance on the Records Program.
  • Initiative and Coordination: Initiate actions required by the Manager and coordinate and monitor assigned tasks emerging from meetings as directed by the Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Records Management System Development: Help develop Records Management system specifications by using best practices, assessing business needs, and clearly documenting requirements.
  • Staff Management: Lead, direct, and assign Records Management staff daily work activities.
  • Information Management System Design: Help design information management systems by translating information processes into functional requirements.
  • Technical Support: Support and assist others in the use of technology to accomplish tasks that support Records Management program objectives.
  • Policy and Procedure Management: Review, discuss with Manager, and update Records Management Policy and Procedures Manual and Records Retention Schedule.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain strictest confidentiality.
Requirements
  • Education: Records/Information Management certification, CRM designation, or a related accredited discipline.
  • Skills/Experience: Minimum five years of records and information management experience, and minimum five years' experience administering Records and Information Management-related projects. Extensive experience and knowledge of records and information management principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods of time and lifting boxes up to 40lbs.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Proficient interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Knowledge, respect, and understanding of Stó:lō culture, traditions, and language or willingness to learn.
