Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide respiratory care to critically ill neonates and their families, while also contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory care to neonates in the NICU, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and airway management
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for neonates
  • Conduct patient assessments, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to enhance patient outcomes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
  • Provide education and support to nurses, other healthcare professionals, and students on respiratory care and neonatal development
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy
  • Current Registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
  • Successful Completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care (CBRC) exam
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ventilator requirements for the micro-premature population
  • Demonstrate the philosophy of Family-Centered Care
  • Demonstrate knowledge of developmental care
  • Willingness to Precept respiratory therapy clinical students
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning
  • Experience in a level 3 NICU and attending high-risk deliveries is preferred
