About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team at Nanoose Bay Cafe. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for leading our culinary team and ensuring that our menu offerings are of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Menu Planning and Execution
    • Develop and implement new menu items and specials
    • Source high-quality ingredients and suppliers
    • Ensure that all menu items are prepared to a high standard
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively
    • Provide guidance and support to staff to help them develop their skills and knowledge
  • Inventory Management
    • Manage inventory levels to ensure that we have the necessary ingredients and supplies
    • Monitor and control food costs to ensure that we are operating within budget
  • Cleanliness and Safety
    • Ensure that the kitchen and dining areas are clean and safe for customers and staff
    • Implement and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience as a head cook or executive chef
    • Post-secondary education in culinary arts or a related field
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with regular exposure to heat, noise, and physical demands. They will also be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
