About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef Assistant to join our team at Browns Socialhouse, Tsawwassen. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals, as well as supervising the activities of specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in the preparation and cooking of meals
  • Supervise the activities of specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks
  • Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
  • Estimate labour costs
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory
  • Analyze operating costs and other data
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets, and specialty functions
  • Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities
  • Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs, and cooks
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
