Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, team environment where you will be responsible for providing care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, severe and persistent mental illness, and co-occurring disorders.

You will work under the supervision of a nurse or allied health staff to provide patient-centered, trauma-informed care that meets the personal needs and comforts of patients. This includes assisting with routine care, such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation, and safety, as well as observing and reporting on patients' mood, health, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to patients
  • Develop and implement individual treatment plans to meet patients' identified goals
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, vital signs, behavior mapping, participating in recreation, leisure, and therapy group/individual activities
  • Support patients attending appointments and managing challenging behaviors
Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working in addictions and mental health (acute or community)
  • Understanding of mental health disorders, trauma-informed care, and patient-centered care
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to maintain a respectful and professional relationship with team members, patients, family, and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Post-secondary education
  • NVCI certification
Estimated Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
