Your Opportunity:

At Alberta Health Services, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Aide to join our team. As a Psychiatric Aide, you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, severe and persistent mental illness, and co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to patients
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living, vital signs, behavior mapping, and participating in recreation, leisure, and therapy group/individual activities
  • Support patients attending appointments and managing challenging behaviors
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff

Requirements:
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Minimum 1 year of working in Addictions and Mental Health (acute or community)
  • Understanding of mental health disorders, trauma-informed care, and patient-centered care
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Post-secondary education
  • NVCI certification
