About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Systems and Application Support Specialist to join our team at CAE. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our critical applications and databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Critical Application Support
    • Provide day-to-day database and application-related support to end-users.
    • Develop and utilize SQL scripts, database reports, and other programming languages to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
    • Liaise with application vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
    • Assist the Business Systems and Application Support team with the implementation of system applications and related updates/upgrades.
    • Perform bug fixing and modifications to existing applications as required.
  • Business/Process Improvement Support
    • Support the gathering, understanding, and documentation of business requirements to ensure that end-user needs are met.
    • Participate as a project team member and provide expertise and governance where required.
    • Develop or assist in the development of documentation, process mapping, business cases, justifications, and project-related documentation.
    • Support the design of test cases and scenarios.
    • Execute test cases.
    • Assist in troubleshooting system issues related to business knowledge and business processes.
  • Database Administration and Support
    • Support the management of critical application databases.
    • Install and create database servers.
    • Perform database backup and recovery.
    • Manage user access and permissions.
    • Develop and utilize SQL scripts, application and database reports, and other programming languages to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
    • Liaise with vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
    • Support the planning and implementation of platform-related updates/upgrades.
    • Support the execution of patches, updates, and upgrades.
    Requirements
    • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience, including intermediate to advanced-level SQL skills.
    • Technical certifications from a recognized Information Technology institute.
    • Understanding of Business Analyst skillsets.
    • Understanding of Project Management Concepts.
    • Understanding of Process Mapping Concepts.
    • Understanding of Problem-Solving Concepts.
    • Strong Technical Writing and research skills.
    • Ability to draw out information and understand end-user needs.
    • High level of attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at one time.
    • Ability to focus for long periods of time.
