About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Inpatient Geriatric Clinician to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work collaboratively with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Working closely with Geriatricians, you will provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services within the hospital, client's home, and community. You will establish individualized treatment plans and goals, manage a busy caseload, and use clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff.

About You
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience required
  • Recent Geriatric experience required
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the frail, elderly population.
  • Geriatric medication knowledge preferred and willingness to continue medication education.
  • Proficiency in cognition assessment preferred.
  • BLS-C
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • Ability to use data in the evaluation and improvement of the Geriatric Navigator
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Hours
  • Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$42.89 Hourly
