About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Inpatient Geriatric Clinician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work closely with clients, caregivers, and family members to provide expert care and support to older adults in our inpatient geriatric unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to clients in the inpatient geriatric unit.
  • Collaborate with geriatricians, other healthcare professionals, and clients to establish individualized treatment plans and goals.
  • Manage a busy caseload and prioritize issues using clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers on geriatric care and management.
  • Contribute to the clinical education of students and related health disciplines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience required.
  • Recent Geriatric experience required.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the frail, elderly population.
  • Geriatric medication knowledge preferred and willingness to continue medication education.
  • Proficiency in cognition assessment preferred.
  • BLS-C.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers, and staff.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising.
  • Ability to use data in the evaluation and improvement of the Geriatric Navigator.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

  • Competitive hourly rate: $33.96 - $42.89.
