Inpatient Geriatric Clinician Specialist

The Inpatient Geriatric Clinician plays a vital role in providing high-quality care to elderly patients. Working under the supervision of the Health Services Manager, this clinician collaborates with clients, caregivers, and family members to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
As a key member of the occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary hospital and/or community healthcare team, the Inpatient Geriatric Clinician provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home, and/or their community.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy, licensure with the provincial regulatory body, and a minimum of 3 years' experience, including recent geriatric experience. In-depth knowledge and experience with the frail, elderly population are essential. Proficiency in cognition assessment and Geriatric medication knowledge are preferred.
The Inpatient Geriatric Clinician will be responsible for establishing individualized treatment plans and goals, managing a busy caseload, and using clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required, as well as the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff.
About You- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
- Licensure with the provincial regulatory body
- Minimum of 3 years' experience, including recent geriatric experience
- In-depth knowledge and experience with the frail, elderly population
- Geriatric medication knowledge preferred
- Proficiency in cognition assessment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
$42.89 Hourly
