About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team as a Nurse Specialist for Pressure Injury Prevention. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives. You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to support education related to existing and new pressure injury prevention strategies.

This position requires a strong background in pressure injury prevention and management practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. As a Nurse Specialist, you will demonstrate initiative and innovative problem-solving, and have experience facilitating practice development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and evaluate facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives
  • Develop and implement education programs related to pressure injury prevention
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to advance pressure injury prevention practice within teams
  • Demonstrate competency in pressure injury prevention practice, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of education
About You

We are looking for a motivated and experienced LPN who has a strong background in pressure injury prevention and management practices. If you have a graduate degree from an accredited program, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing, and at least 3 years of full-time clinical experience, we encourage you to apply.

You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have experience in facilitation, leadership, and professional practice. Additionally, you should have a working knowledge of best practices for pressure injury prevention, and evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills in varied contexts.

Requirements:
  • Graduate degree from an accredited program for LPNs
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time clinical experience within the last 5 years in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification
  • Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN) certification an asset or willingness to complete
Compensation and Benefits:

This is a long assignment, full-time position with a salary range of $31.12 - $35.11 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
