About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled Pressure Injury Prevention Specialist to join our team in Central Zone. This is a long assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating facility and unit-based pressure injury initiatives. They will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to support education related to existing and new pressure injury prevention strategies and translate knowledge to practice.

This role requires travel to facilities within Central Zone, with frequent visits to Dartmouth General, Hants, and Tri-Facilities. A reliable means of transportation is necessary.

About You

We are looking for a seasoned Licensed Practical Nurse with at least three years of full-time clinical experience in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in skin wellness and be proficient in facilitation of practice development.

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses is required.
  • Current LPN registration (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time clinical experience within the last 5 years in an area with exposure to pressure injury prevention and management practices is required.
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification is required.
  • Skin Wellness Associate Nurse (SWAN) certification is an asset or willingness to complete.
  • Working knowledge on best practices for pressure injury prevention is essential.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal and communication skills in varied contexts is required.
  • Demonstrated initiative and innovative problem-solving are necessary.
  • Skilled in the facilitation of practice development.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Suite and documentation systems are required.
  • Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity, and inclusivity are valuable.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, particularly French.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $31.12 - $35.11 per hour, which translates to approximately $60,000 - $68,000 per year. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
