Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

About the Role
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is a key position at Bethany CollegeSide, working closely with the site leadership team to develop a robust volunteer program that supports employees, residents, and families. This part-time role will engage the local community, act as a direct liaison for volunteers, support site events, and maintain high standards of service excellence.
Job Summary
We are seeking an organized and self-motivated individual to fill this critical role. Reporting to the Volunteer Services Manager, your responsibilities will include day-to-day coordination and administration of volunteers, assessing current and future needs, planning for volunteer engagement and recognition, recruiting and orienting volunteers, developing volunteer position descriptions, and liaising with community organizations.
What We Offer
This position offers a competitive salary of $45,000 per year (estimated based on industry standards), flexible working hours between Monday and Friday, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community. Responsibilities
- Day-to-day coordination and administration of volunteers and the volunteer program
- Assessing current and future needs and planning for volunteer engagement and recognition
- Recruiting, selecting, and orienting volunteers according to site demand
- Developing volunteer position descriptions
- Liaising and working with community organizations to increase awareness of the Bethany CollegeSide site
Requirements
- Grade 12 Diploma
- 2-3 years of volunteer coordination or program experience
- Diploma and/or training in volunteer management
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience as a volunteer preferred
- Knowledge of dementia and related issues would be an asset
- Ability to build and establish relationships with staff, community, residents, and their families
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet strict deadlines
- Highly self-motivated and community-oriented
- Superior organization and administrative skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills
- Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Previous experience with volunteer management software is an asset
Working Conditions
This part-time role requires flexibility, including occasional evening and weekend work, and requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively within the team.
