About the Role

Pacific Blue Cross is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to join their leadership team. As a key member of the executive team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and guidance to the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and professional advice to the Board, Board Committees, and senior leadership on financial matters.
  • Oversee the financial integrity of the organization and play a critical role in supporting the planning and implementation of strategic and business development initiatives.
  • Lead the Finance, Investment, Underwriting, and Actuarial Services departments, ensuring cohesive management and reviewing operations to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop a forward-thinking and visionary approach within Actuarial Services, prioritizing innovation and growth.
  • Enhance the financial strategy and oversight of the organization, ensuring long-term sustainability and growth.
  • Strategically align organizational goals with financial capabilities, ensuring prudent stewardship of resources.
  • Provide stability and structure, guiding the organization through its evolution while ensuring financial integrity and strategic alignment with its goals.
Requirements
  • Dynamic and creative finance executive with experience leading in complex, unionized organizations.
  • Strong systems and business acumen with a solid grounding in financial principles and investments.
  • Demonstrated capacity to quickly understand the nuances of the insurance sector.
  • Background in Underwriting and Actuarial Services, along with experience working in BC Financial Services Authority-regulated environments such as credit unions and other financial institutions.
  • Strong voice and ability to confidently engage with an executive team and Board.
  • Strong communicator who can articulate ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Forward-thinking mindset and experience in strategic plan development, fostering collaboration, achieving outstanding results through effective leadership and innovative problem-solving.
  • Experience in creating an environment of belonging, participation, and safety.
What We Offer

Pacific Blue Cross offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $230,000 to $310,000 per year, based on market and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined based on a combination of skills, education, and experience.
