Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Palliative Care Nurse Consultant to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our Hospice Palliative Care Consultation Team, you will play a vital role in supporting and mentoring primary care givers in various care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish regular contact with key palliative care stakeholders to build capacity and provide education and resources across the continuum of care.
  • Develop and implement education and resources to support the development of policies, procedures, and education needs related to the NH HPC Program.
  • Provide consults on clinically complex pain, symptom, and psychosocial issues for persons registered with the NH HPC Program.
  • Lead the development of policies, procedures, and education needs related to the NH HPC Program.
Requirements
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Minimum two (2) years full-time recent experience in palliative care nursing with a focus on pain and symptom management.
  • Certificate of specialized training in palliative care or post-basic palliative care nursing courses and evidence of palliative care nursing education.
  • Two years of demonstrated teaching experience for a range of health care providers.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including word processing, email, and electronic presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of current palliative care philosophy, principles, practices, and resources.
  • Vehicle, valid driver's license required and appropriate insurance.
