About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Northern Health Authority as a Palliative Care Nurse Consultant. As a key member of the Hospice Palliative Care Consultation Team, you will play a vital role in supporting and mentoring primary care givers in various care settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish regular contact with key palliative care stakeholders to build relationships and provide expert guidance.
  • Develop and implement education and resources to enhance capacity across the continuum of care.
  • Provide consults on complex pain, symptom, and psychosocial issues for individuals registered with the NH HPC Program.
  • Lead the development of policies, procedures, and education needs related to the NH HPC Program.
Requirements
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Minimum two years of full-time experience in palliative care nursing with a focus on pain and symptom management.
  • Certificate of specialized training in palliative care or post-basic palliative care nursing courses.
  • Two years of demonstrated teaching experience for a range of healthcare providers.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and demonstrate knowledge and skill in coalition building.
  • Knowledge of current palliative care philosophy, principles, practices, and resources.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Valid driver's license and appropriate insurance.
