Job Overview

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Operations Manager to lead the regional wildfire management program in Thompson.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement key aspects of the regional wildfire management program, including prevention, detection, pre-suppression, and suppression operations.
  2. Supervise Area Fire Managers and procure goods and services to support regional operations.
  3. Coordinate wildfire resources within the region and provide coverage for other positions as needed.

Requirements

  1. Graduate of a resource-based or emergency management program from a recognized college or university.
  2. Experience in wildfires, including emergency management best practices, wildfire operations, prevention, mitigation, and incident management.
  3. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to find creative solutions to issues and implement change.
  4. Experience supervising and leading staff, as well as financial management and providing strategic advice to senior leaders.

Work Environment

The Fire Operations Manager will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a focus on public safety and emergency response. The successful candidate will be required to travel frequently and work in a variety of settings, including remote areas.
