Executive Director of Thermal Operations

Northwest Territories Power Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Director, Power Generation and Distribution. This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Thermal Operations Division, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and replacement of power generation and distribution facilities.

Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Thermal Operations Division, including the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategies, work plans, and budgets.
- Direct the review and evaluation of power generation and distribution facilities, recommending improvements and replacements as needed.
- Collaborate with operational managers to integrate alternative generation technologies and independent power producer contracts into our systems.
- Administer collective agreements and maintain effective employee relations practices within the department.
- Plan and administer divisional operating and capital budgets, ensuring effective procedures are in place to monitor and control expenses.
- Requires a Red Seal Journeyperson (mechanic, electrician, or powerline technician) with a minimum of ten years of directly related experience in thermal power generation, OR an Engineering degree and ten years of directly related experience in thermal or diesel power generation, AND at least ten years' experience in management or supervisory roles.
- Experience with annual inspections and maintenance of LNG facilities is an asset.
- Excellent skills relating to communications, marketing, human relations, negotiations, strategic operational and financial planning, and problem solving.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental benefits, long-term disability, life insurance, paid sick days, and a defined benefits pension plan. Salary for this position ranges from $86.45/hr - $108.07/hr ($168,577 - $210,736 per year), plus location and accommodation allowances of approximately $16,008 per annum.
