**Department Information**:
The Department of Infrastructure (INF) provides high quality services to the public and Government of the Northwest Territories’ (GNWT) departments, boards and agencies including the planning, design, construction, acquisition, operation and maintenance of public transportation infrastructure and the buildings, works and equipment required for the GNWT to deliver its programs and services. INF makes essential petroleum products available for sale to the public where these products are not provided by the private sector, and promotes the development and increased use of energy efficient technologies. INF also regulates electrical and mechanical safety services and licenses individuals and vehicles operating in the territory.
**Job Information**:
Reporting to the Manager, Fuel Services while working in close liaison with the Coordinator, Fuel Operations for program delivery, this position is located in lnuvik and is responsible to account for quantities of fuel received, stored and distributed in the lnuvik Region. The Inuvik Region of Fuel Service Division comprises the entire northern half of the Northwest Territories (11 communities). The incumbent will regularly travel to the 11 communities to perform tasks with the primary responsibility being the Beaufort Delta Sub-Region (Fort McPherson, Tsiigehtchic, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, Sachs Harbour, Ulukhaktok, and Paulatuk). The incumbent will also be called upon to travel to and perform operational activities in other regions of the Northwest Territories, as requirements dictate. The incumbent works closely with the Senior Operations Officer, lnuvik Region, and works with mínimal supervision as the majority of work is carried out in remote locations.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing handling of fuel;
- Knowledge of northern resupply processes used to facilitate product delivery;
- Knowledge of product quality control requirements and fuel specifications, specific to the northern environment;
- Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written English language and ability to exchange information for lay and professional or technical audiences and others;
- Ability to plan and deliver training programs and provide workplace coaching;
**Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by**:
Grade 12 and 3 years’ experience in fuel handling operations in a northern environment.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum Class 3 drivers’ license with air brake endorsement.
- Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and regulations and/or ability to complete training and earn certificate within three months of start.
- Knowledge of aircraft refueling procedures and/or ability to complete training and earn certificate within 3 months of start.
