**Department Information**:
The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.

**Job Information**:
Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, Human Resources, the Superintendent, Northern Region is expected to work with the Deputy Heads of Departments and the Executive’s Regional Director in their role as chair of the Regional Management Committee (RMC) to carry out planning, coordination and implementation of Corporate and interdepartmental initiatives in the region.

An important aspect of this position is to ensure consistency in the level of service and quality of advice provided by human resource staff while at the same time offering creative and flexible alternatives to recruitment and retention challenges. The incumbent must also work closely with other Client Services and Recruitment Directors to ensure a government-wide consistent approach to the delivery of human resource services.

**Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by**:
These knowledge, skills and abilities are generally attained through a Masters degree in business administration or a related field, plus seven (7) years of progressive experience, including at least four (4) years of management experience.
