About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary chronic pain team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a member of our team, you will provide leadership and support in the development, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based chronic pain care within the biopsychosocial model.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other team members to triage patient care, provide assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy. You will also be required to work with family physicians and other service providers and community agencies to provide comprehensive care.

We are looking for a candidate with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners, and a minimum of two years of related clinical experience, including one year of experience with chronic pain. Experience working in a Primary Health Care environment is preferred.

The ideal candidate will have advanced psychotherapy skills, experience with research and delivering education, and demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach. You will also be required to have competency in the use of psychological testing and experience conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapy.

We offer a competitive salary of $49.04 hourly and a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and support in the development, delivery, and evaluation of evidence-based chronic pain care
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to triage patient care
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy
  • Work with family physicians and other service providers and community agencies to provide comprehensive care
  • Develop and implement group psychotherapy programs
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments
  • Use psychological testing to inform treatment decisions
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, public, community partners, primary care team members, and other professionals and agencies

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners
  • Minimum of two years of related clinical experience, including one year of experience with chronic pain
  • Experience working in a Primary Health Care environment is preferred
  • Advanced psychotherapy skills
  • Experience with research and delivering education
