The Psychologist, under the guidance of the Health Services Manager, plays a crucial role within a dynamic interdisciplinary team focused on chronic pain management for adults and their families. This position involves providing direction and support to the chronic pain team at WZ, ensuring the implementation and assessment of evidence-based care rooted in the biopsychosocial framework. The Psychologist will work closely with team members to prioritize patient care while offering comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and therapeutic services. Proficiency in both individual and group therapy is essential. Additionally, collaboration with family physicians, service providers, and community organizations is a key aspect of this role. The successful candidate will also engage in quality enhancement initiatives, including peer supervision for ongoing professional growth.
Candidate ProfileWe invite applications from individuals who possess the following qualifications:
- A Master's degree from an accredited institution in Clinical Psychology.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP).
- A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience, including at least one year focused on chronic pain.
- Preferred experience in a Primary Health Care setting.
- Advanced skills in psychotherapy.
- Experience in research and educational delivery is an asset.
- A demonstrated client- and family-centered approach.
- Competency in psychological assessment tools.
- Proven experience in conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapeutic interventions.
- Experience in developing group therapy programs.
- Ability to perform biopsychosocial evaluations.
- Familiarity with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
- Capability to collaborate with clients and families to reach a shared understanding.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, community partners, and other professionals through various means.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Ability to adapt and innovate in service delivery.
- Commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Awareness of local community resources is advantageous.
- A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in additional languages is preferred; French is an asset.

Work Schedule- Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly.
- Work hours may include days, evenings, and weekends.
- Travel to various locations may be necessary.
The hourly wage is $49.04.
