The Role

As a Facilitator at Community Living BC, you will represent our organization as the primary contact for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. This includes:

  • Confirming eligibility for our funded services
  • Supporting and facilitating access to generic services, informal support, and our funded services
  • Providing information about informal community supports, generic services, our services, peer and family support services available
  • Responding to crisis situations and resolving problems
  • Coordinating services
  • Creating and implementing individual support plans, which include informal and formal safeguards
  • Assisting individuals and families to connect to their community to build on the strengths and assets of the individual
  • Assisting the individual and their family in identifying the activities and resources required to reach their goals, by supporting the individual to explore their capacity and enhance their ability to make informed decisions

Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent degree
  • Experience working in the Community Living field with children, youth, or adults with developmental disabilities and their families
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education/experience may be considered

Possession of a class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract are required. We offer a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site office work with flexibility to work from home within BC after passing a 6-month probationary period. Occasional travel within the Comox Valley and Campbell River area may be required.

Team: North Island, Local 6
Status/Term: Auxiliary. Anticipated 70 hours bi-weekly for 6 months. Regular-status staff can fill this position as a temporary assignment
Classification/Salary: Social Program Officer (Growth to R24) / Position starts at $39.30 to $41.65 hourly
