Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator

The Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator is a key member of the Hillel Ontario team, responsible for creating a positive and inclusive Jewish community on campus. This role involves developing and implementing advocacy strategies, engaging with students, and fostering relationships with campus leaders and organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute advocacy strategies to promote Jewish student life and address antisemitism on campus.
- Build relationships with Jewish and non-Jewish student leaders to advance Hillel's engagement and advocacy objectives.
- Collaborate with other Jewish and Israel advocacy organizations to further Hillel's strategic advocacy goals.
- Provide support to Jewish students in pursuit of their advocacy interests and cultivate student leadership.
- Prepare for and respond to anti-Israel/antisemitic incidents on campus.
- Support pre-trip efforts and post-trip follow-up for Israel immersive experiences.
- Assist with the creation and implementation of strategic campaigns to advance advocacy objectives.
- Monitor and report on anti-Israel and antisemitic activities on campus.
- Ensure a visible Jewish presence on campus.
- Identify and engage uninvolved student populations and develop strategies for reaching them.
- Manage data related to student engagement metrics.
- Develop one-on-one relationships with Jewish students and build relationships with campus professionals and student leaders.
- Support student-initiated programs and attend programs as needed.
- Play a key role in planning, executing, and evaluating all programming.
- Identify innovative program areas to reach new student populations.
- Support and execute Hillel's flagship programming, including Holocaust Education Week.
- University degree or 2-year college diploma in a related field of study.
- 0-3 years of experience in student programming and engagement in a university or college environment.
- Demonstrated involvement in student government, political organizing, or active engagement in campus life.
- Well-developed program development, organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be strategic and have a future-focused mindset.
- Ability to take initiative and collaborate with multiple team members.
- Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills.
- Market-competitive base salary starting at $42,500 annually.
