About the Role

Hillel Ontario is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Advocacy, Emerging Campuses to advance the organization's Israel and Jewish advocacy agenda on campuses beyond our current reach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Hillel Ontario's advocacy strategy on campus in partnership with the Hillel Ontario Advocacy Task Force and senior leadership team.
  • Support advocacy initiatives on Ontario's emerging campuses without a Hillel presence.
  • Build and recruit a cohort of Jewish students to serve as advocates on their campuses, providing them with the support and resources they need to be effective.
  • Collaborate with other Jewish and/or Israel advocacy organizations operating on campus to further Hillel's strategic advocacy objectives.
  • Elevate and amplify student perspectives and voices through joint learning, campaigns, and events.
  • Create and drive provincial campus advocacy campaigns aimed at countering antisemitism and promoting Israel.
  • Visit campuses regularly to train and empower students in their advocacy efforts and work with them to become more politically engaged on campus.
  • Mentor students to improve their advocacy skills and become more effective.
  • Provide monthly reports on antisemitic and anti-Zionist activities across the campuses in their portfolio.
  • Proactively monitor social media and develop strategic relationships with university staff, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Security, and Division of Students.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in a Jewish Advocacy role.
  • 3+ years of experience with demonstrable leadership and mentorship.
  • High level of involvement working with University administration, political organizing, or campus life, all with a clear understanding and appreciation for the campus dynamics.
  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills.
What We Offer
  • A base salary ranging between $80,000 - $85,000 annually.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, vision and dental, life insurance, and Long-Term Disability (LTD).
  • 15 paid vacation days per year, 2 Mental Health/Wellness days, and 10 paid sick days in addition to paid Jewish and Statutory Holidays.
