About the Role

The Director of Advocacy and Engagement will play a critical role in advancing Hillel International's advocacy agenda on campuses across Ontario. This position will work closely with the Hillel Ontario Advocacy Task Force and senior leadership team to develop and implement a comprehensive advocacy strategy that promotes Israel and Jewish advocacy on campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic advocacy plan to promote Israel and Jewish advocacy on campus
  • Build and maintain relationships with university administrators, faculty, and students to advance Hillel's advocacy agenda
  • Provide training and support to student leaders to enhance their advocacy skills and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with other Jewish and Israel advocacy organizations to further Hillel's strategic advocacy objectives
  • Develop and implement campaigns to counter antisemitism and promote Israel on campus
  • Monitor and report on antisemitic and anti-Zionist activities on campus
  • Develop and maintain relationships with university staff, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Security, and Division of Students
  • Engage Jewish and non-Jewish students in advocacy efforts and build strategic relationships with various stakeholders and clubs on campus
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in a Jewish advocacy role
  • 3+ years of experience with demonstrable leadership and mentorship
  • High level of involvement working with university administration, political organizing, or campus life
  • Ability to take initiative, drive the advocacy agenda, and collaborate with multiple team members across different geographical locations
  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills
Abilities and Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and troubleshoot effectively, under tight timelines with significant pressure
  • Knowledge and experience with network management, social networking, and social media
  • Interest and ability to build effective and meaningful relationships with staff, university students, and community members
  • Skills in community organizing, campaigning, and programming
  • Able to maintain clear thinking and a sense of calm during times of crisis
  • Energy, versatility, flexibility, and maturity
What We Offer
  • Base salary ranges between $80,000 - $85,000 annually
  • Benefits package that includes health insurance, vision and dental, life insurance, and Long-Term Disability (LTD)
  • 15 paid vacation days per year, 2 Mental Health/Wellness days, and 10 paid sick days in addition to paid Jewish and Statutory Holidays
