Senior Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Mental Health Specialist to join our team at the Vancouver Coastal Health Mood Disorders Centre.
About the RoleThis is a part-time position working as a Psychiatrist with Vancouver Coastal Health, where you will have the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment providing state-of-the-art care for individuals with mood disorders. Your expertise will play a crucial role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients using a combination of pharmacotherapy, neurostimulation, light therapy, exercise, and psychotherapeutic interventions.
You will be part of a dynamic team that includes physicians, psychologists, nurses, psychiatric nurses, research assistants, social workers, occupational therapists, peer-support workers, clients, and their families. This collaborative approach enables us to provide innovative services, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and diagnose patients with mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorders, utilizing your specialized knowledge and skills.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care, ensuring a seamless patient experience.
- Serve as a resource for mental health issues and symptom management, leveraging your expertise in psychopharmacology.
- Participate in academic activities and contribute to clinical research, advancing our understanding of mental health.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Medical Degree and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Specialist qualifications in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC).
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership.
- Eligibility for a clinical faculty appointment with the UBC Faculty of Medicine.
- Experience in academic psychiatry and clinical research, including publications in academic journals.
- Candidates must meet the credentialing requirements of Vancouver Coastal Health.
