About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are seeking a skilled Social Worker to provide mental health services in a school setting. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with educators, mental health professionals, and other stakeholders to provide comprehensive support to children and adolescents.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. They will possess a minimum of two years' experience providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents within a mental health setting.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the DSM-IV-5 and the ability to screen for, assess, and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders. They will also have experience in crisis and suicide risk assessment and intervention, as well as the ability to assess family functioning and implement family-based interventions.

This is a permanent part-time position, with 37.5 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $49.04. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

About You
  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Current registration with Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Minimum two years' experience providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents
