About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide mental health services directly in the school community environment within designated Schools Plus schools.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a Master's degree in Social Work and current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. You will also have a minimum of two years' experience providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents within a mental health setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health services directly in the school community environment
  • Participate in the planning, development, provision, and evaluation of mental health services for the assigned population
  • Act as a liaison between the client, school, and mental health services
  • Screen for, assess, and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders
  • Implement evidence-based treatment plans for children and adolescents
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Minimum two years' experience providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents
  • Knowledge of the DSM-IV-5 and ability to use it to screen for, assess, and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders
  • Demonstrated diagnostic experience completing mental health assessments and implementing evidence-based treatment plans for children and adolescents
