About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Leader to join our team at Amazon Data Services Canada, Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading engineers, guiding them towards best data development practices, and defining the priorities and vision of the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of data systems that simplify bringing new models to customers and enhance the visibility into our underlying modeling process.
  • Collaborate with our Product and SDE teams to build data products incrementally and integrate and manage data sets from multiple sources.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers on data engineering best practices.
  • Work with our team to operate the public Customer Carbon Footprint Tool and ensure high-quality data releases to tens of thousands of AWS customers each month.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics experience.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle.
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.
  • Familiarity with data architectures built on AWS services, such as Redshift, Glue, S3, and Step Functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting protocols such as GHG Protocol.
